A 3-day exploration of the Shoulder girdle with SmartFLOW movement principles. For dedicated students and teachers.

(30hrs towards the 500hr pathway)


This 3-day training will cover Movement Principle 4 A, B and C: The Shoulder Girdle in all planes from Annie Carpenter’s SmartFLOW methodology. 


We will cover the methodology and practical application of each movement principle in relation to the shoulder girdle movement in asana. Improving health, stability, mobility and freedom in your shoulders and spine. 



  • Students will refine their understanding in their personal practice and teaching practice
  • Learn Anatomy and movement biomechanics of the Shoulder girdle and spine
  • Develop teaching skills for greater inquiry, specificity and clarity, empowering your students 
  • Refine your teaching eye to be a more effective teacher
  • Sequencing skills to create intelligent and artful classes

Day 1 (10 Hours 10am - 6pm)

Morning Workshop (2 Hours)

Spread your wings and soar: Arm balancing & more. A playful asana workshop to discover strength, stability and ease in your shoulders.


Teacher Training (Remainder of day 1)

Learn the planes of movement and how to apply this to understanding asanas

  • A closer look at the anatomical understanding of the shoulder girdle in multiple planes. 
  • Movement principle methodology and how to apply it
  • Cover Movement principle 4A methodology
  • Intelligent sequencing and class planning
  • Posture breakdown. How to decode an asana, refine your “teaching eye” to be a more effective teacher, supporting your own practice development and your students. Also covering wise prop use and partner work or wall work
  • Philosophy lecture and discussion 




Day 2 (10 Hours 10am - 6pm)

Morning Workshop (2 hours)

Back bends in shoulder extension. A progressive asana practice for shoulder mobility and spine stability to support safe back bends.


Teacher Training (Remainder of day 2)

Cover Movement principle 4B methodology

  • Intelligent sequencing and class planning. 
  • Anatomy: A closer look at the shoulder girdle and spine
  • Posture breakdown. How to decode an asana, refine your “teaching eye” to be a more effective teacher, supporting your own practice development and your students. Also covering wise prop use and partner work or wall work.
  • Philosophy lecture and discussion 





Day 3 (10 Hours 10am - 6pm)

Morning Workshop (2 Hours)

Inversions and more! A fun and awakening practice involving systematically preparing your shoulders and core to get upside down safely, with confidence. 


Teacher Training (Remainder of day 3)

Cover Movement Principle 4C methodology

  • Intelligent sequencing and class planning
  • Anatomy: A closer look at the shoulders and spine
  • Posture breakdown continued, refine your “teaching eye” to be a more effective teacher, supporting your own practice development and your students. Also covering wise prop use and wall work
  • Philosophy lecture and discussion

Gina Brescianini Bio


Gina Brescianini was a soloist with The Australian Ballet for 10 years and has been fortunate enough to perform all over Australia and the world, in traditional and contemporary ballets. Gina started practicing Kundalini yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan in 2001, perfect for supporting her busy ballet life. She was practicing, learning and studying at every spare moment, completing her teacher training in New Mexico in 2010.

Since then Gina has completed a 1,000hr mentorship with Duncan Peak, has undertaken rigorous long-term study and mentorship with Annie Carpenter in SmartFLOW yoga, which she now teaches at Power Living in classes and Teacher Training modules. Other significant teaches she has studied with are Maty Ezraty, Simon Park and Sarah Powers. Gina is also a Classical Ballet Teacher and Pilates teacher.

Gina is our Head of Education, Lead Teacher Trainer at Power Living of our 200hr and 500hr Teacher Training Programs, alongside being a Lead facilitator and Performance Coach.

Gina is full of passion and joy to share her love of yoga, pranayama and meditation with the community at Power Living and beyond.

The Shoulder Girdle


The second of the Movement Masterclass series to learn SmartFLOW movement principle 4 A, B & C: The Shoulder Girdle from Annie Carpenter. To discover greater strength, stability, freedom and health in your shoulders, spine and extremities in the planes of movement in relation to asana. 

To deepen your understanding of asana in relation to the shoulders, spine and limbs for greater health, stability, mobility and reducing pain or discomfort. 

Take a closer look at shoulder and spine anatomy. Develop your teaching skills to be a more effective teacher via the movement principles and inquiry for each individual practitioners’ empowerment. 

This program will support the growth of your own practice and cover how to support your students’ practice to grow and flourish in a safe and intelligent way.  

Learn the planes of movement applied to asana with MP4 A, B & C. Understand and breakdown postures anatomically, apply movement principles for an intelligent safe practice, develop your “teaching eyes” to be more effective in your teaching, expand and evolve your language for greater clarity, specificity, inquiry and creativity. Learn how to integrate use of props in a fun and wise way.
